Great domain names work well because they’re quick, easy to memorize/type and typically are relevant to what you’re looking to do or access.
Like a great domain name, having relevant, easy to read URLs is a great way to help users understand the content on the page and allows search engines to find and display your content in search results better.
Typically for WordPress blogs and corporate sites the default setting WordPress uses isn’t want you want to keep (Plain).
Instead, best practice is to switch to “Post Name”. To do this as Admin, navigate to Settings > Permalinks
and select the “Post Name
” radio option and save.
Using the post name as part of the URL is a great way to make sure your URL’s have SEO relevance. By using a post name you’re giving meaning to the URL and it allows search engines to use that meaning to help derive context from the page.
Now everyone can enjoy readable links on your WordPress site!
